Woman's Day
Very best wishes to everyone,
In the modern world, Woman's day celebration is more than 100 years by age, often the Woman's day celebration or feminist movements are perceived on women's rights in the society. In my mind, often the question comes, being part of humans, why there should be a need for a specific gender celebration? Let me break it down from vedic times. There are several evidences that women during the early vedic period enjoyed equal status with men in all aspects of life. Here, "equal" does not mean doing the 50% activities of all that masculine do, but participate in their respective best fit with respect. Often the very concept of gender equality has been misunderstood in modern time as woman try to act more as masculine than man and vice versa. Each one brings certain type of value to life, while the biological design of gender variation is to complement not to compete.
Today, we have come to a place where technology has created a physical space where both the gender can participate in equal measure. In a practical sense, having understood that economy is one of the driving needs, it is important that the woman participate in the process that creates a better economy. By design, feminine is biologically a "better fit" than masculine in terms of cognitive ability and decision making as evidenced from many medical studies. It is therefore, important that the woman should be (self/) encouraged to take a leadership role in the board rooms of the society, country and the world. While doing so, woman should genuinely have something feminine “alive” in them and at the same time, masculine should not be ashamed of being feminine when they need to be. This balance is very critical and that balance brings the empowerment.
It was very unfortunate that, in the last 300+ years or so, this critical balance has been lost. Woman has been mistreated, disrespected, in terms of the denial from decision making in a society and also physically inflicted with pain / exploited as we see from various day-to-day news. Masculine needs to understand, creating pain in the counterpart is actually creating persistent pain in themselves and the subsequent generation. The fundamental intent of gender creation in nature is to have a better fit of human as a species, while the differences in them are to facilitate the perpetuation. These differences are to be respected and celebrated. Now, let’s take this woman’s day as an opportunity to “celebrate the uniqueness” in each gender. Peace.
